According to the most recent Nintendo sales figures, the Switch is the third most popular gaming system of all time. The Switch has now sold 122.55 million units, bringing it up to the third position on the list of best-selling gaming systems, according to Nintendo’s most recent earnings report.

The Switch previously trailed the PS4 (117 million) and Game Boy/Game Boy Color (118 million). It will take some time, but it is now conceivable to get into second or perhaps first place. The PS2, which sold 155 million units, narrowly edged out the Nintendo DS, which sold 154 million units, to claim the top spot.

The third-quarter earnings report from Nintendo via Engadget depicts a diminishing level of popularity. While software sales are down 7% year over year, hybrid console sales are down 21%. Nevertheless, 27 games for the Switch sold more than 1 million copies, with 19 of those being Nintendo-developed games. Sales of the Switch OLED model have increased by 92% year over year.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have the “fastest start of any title on a Nintendo dedicated video game platform,” according to Nintendo. The two games have sold 18.2 million units since their November 18 debut. Splatoon 3 (9.4 million), Nintendo Switch Sports (7.9 million), Mario Strikers: Battle League (1.9 million), and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are among other new games that performed well (1.5 million).

With 154.02 million and 155 million units sold, the DS and PlayStation 2 are the only products to have sold more.

The Switch has done amazingly well despite being a console that is ostensibly nearing the end of its useful life. Nintendo could employ a variety of tactics to increase console sales over the coming years, even if it decides to release a next-gen replacement, despite the fact that it has never officially dropped prices.
