The long-rumored Guardians of the Galaxy game may finally be revealed soon, or more specifically, at E3 2021 during Square Enix’s media showcase. Back in 2017, reports surfaced claiming that Eidos Montreal was working on a Guardians of the Galaxy game.
Since then, we’ve heard nothing about the game in either an unofficial or official capacity until earlier this month. Above all, when industry insider Jeff Grubb claimed he heard the project was still in development.
Guardians of the Galaxy Game, all rumors are here.
At Square Enix’s E3 2021 press conference, Deus Ex developer Eidos Montréal will unveil its latest project. By and large, which, according to rumors, may be a Guardians of the Galaxy adventure. Word of the Montréal-based team possibly working on the popular Marvel property first surfaced in early 2017. In a word, Courtesy of sources that spoke with Eurogamer and Kotaku.
The crew at Eidos Montréal reportedly planned on completing the Adam Jensen-starring Deus Ex trilogy following Mankind Divided’s 2016 release. Unfortunately, the sequel failed to meet Square Enix’s expectations, leaving the future of Deus Ex on shaky ground. Reports suggest Eidos Montréal canned the series’ third prequel entry, then shifted focus to three different projects.
As many may recall, the team assisted Crystal Dynamics in developing Marvel’s Avengers and helmed Lara Croft’s last outing in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The Montréal developers had, according to insider sources, additionally begun early work on a Guardians of the Galaxy game.

The only thing working against this being guardian of the Galaxy is the lack of rumors, reports, and leaks. If we started to hear about this game back in 2017 when it began development, you’d assume the same sources would be leaking information right now ahead of its reveal.
As disappointing as it is to admit, it seems as though yet another E3 will pass without Deus Ex receiving a mention. A Guardians of the Galaxy title from the crew at Eidos Montréal could prove promising, though. But, as always, rumor and speculation of this nature are best taken with a grain of salt.
