A voice actor may have just revealed a GTA 6 character. Rockstar Games has yet to announce the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, but its development is the worst kept secret in the industry. That said, everything we know about the game is through rumors, reports, and leaks, which is to say, we only have unofficial information on the game.
The latest bit of unofficial information comes from a voice actor who is apparently working with Rockstar Games, though it’s not clear if it’s for GTA 6 or GTA Online or something else.
GGTA 6 First Character Possibly Leaked
After the huge success of GTA V, the gaming world is waiting for the next grand title from Rockstar Games, the GTA 6. GTA V is the second most successful video game of all time. Rockstar Games will bring a sixth Grand Theft Auto title, and rumors have been spreading about the game for a long time.
According to many reports, the development of the sixth GTA title was already started before Grand Theft Auto 5 was even released, but Rockstar Games still didn’t announce anything about its upcoming title.
Tom Henderson, a popular leaker, stated that he has come across Dave Jackson, a voice actor, who claims to be playing the voice actor for “Captain McClane” in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title. The post by Dave Jackson also reveals that “Captain McClane” is set to be a police chief. Previously, Tom Henderson leaked that Grand Theft Auto 6 may get both a male and female protagonist.
This is the first time any GTA title will feature a female protagonist, and the gaming community has wanted this for a very long time.
Though this might be one of the biggest leaks on GTA 6 so far, many fans are taking the information with a grain of salt. Working with giant producers like Rockstar Games comes with its own pros and cons. In addition, everyone directly involved in the game’s production is legally bonded with keeping strict confidentiality of the game. So, it is quite unnatural to give away such important information. Still, most of the GTA community believes that the leak is true.
Taking to Facebook, the voice actor, Dave Jackso, revealed that he “just found out” that he’s playing the role of police chief Captain McClane “in the new Grand Theft Auto series.”
“So, I just found out from the producers that it’s official; | will play the role of police chief Captain McClane in the new Grand Theft Auto series,” said Jackson in a now-deleted Facebook post. “I didn’t have the heart to tell them that I didn’t really have the time for it! Haha! Yep, someday I WILL take a nap! | know it! I KNOW IT! haha! Seriously, it is a privilege to work with such a professional and fun group of folks. If you are a gamer, stay tuned.”
When could the GTA 6 release date be?
Long story short: if Rockstar had announced GTA 6 the day after Red Dead Redemption 2 came out (October 26, 2018 – put it in your diary), then based on historical delays between console GTA announcements and release, we’d be waiting around 22 months – so August 2020. Of course, Rockstar didn’t do that.
It didn’t do anything, in fact, so all we have to go on is a word that GTA 6 was “early in development” as of April 2020. That makes it difficult to predict any release window.
The latest gossip is that the GTA 6 release date will be sometime in 2025. That comes with the tip that the game is set in a modern-day version of Vice City that will expand and change over time.
That goes against earlier rumors that GTA 6 could launch in October 2023 and be set in Miami. That’s from a dubious online source, though, but additional details from that leak including a single male protagonist, with the game being set in the 1970s, with a chaptered story like Red Dead Redemption 2.
Combine that with Rockstar teasing fans with the official Rockstar Support account is telling us to “stay tuned” for GTA 6 updates on Twitter, and it just keeps getting more exciting.
The Bottom Line
There have been several rumors about potential GTA 6 location spots, including heading back to Vice City or being set across the entirety of the US.
Following this up, industry insider Tom Henderson relayed word that he spoke with Jackson after the voice actor made this post, and he was unable to “provide any significant evidence to back up his claims.”
Adding to this, Henderson says Jackson was “not sure if it’s for GTA 6 or another episode in GTA 5.” To this end, Jackson did note that a new trailer is in production. If this is the case, the character is likely for GTA Online or some new GTA 5 content for the “Expanded and Enhanced” edition coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year.
For now, take everything here with a grain of salt. While there’s little reason to doubt the claims of Jackson, it’s obvious the voice actor isn’t 100 percent sure what game the character is for.
Whatever the case, if a trailer is indeed in the works, we should find out soon, and because of this, you’d have to move GTA 6 to the bottom list of possibilities, as according to various reports, it’s nowhere near being ready for the reveal.
At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not commented on any of this. We don’t expect this to change for various reasons, but we will update the story accordingly if it does.
