For users in the US, Google One has introduced a new dark Web report tool. Thanks to this function, customers will be able to keep an eye on their private information in the most remote areas of the Internet. All plans now have access to Google One’s VPN thanks to the business. Users who had a Premium 2TB plan subscription were the only ones who could use the program in the past. For Google One subscribers and older Pixel devices, Google recently rolled out support for its Magic Eraser feature and HDR effects for videos.
The tech giant made a new dark web report tool available to all Google One members in the US. It is advertised as assisting users in searching the dark Web for their confidential information, such as name, address, email, phone number, and Social Security Number, and notifying them if a match is discovered.
Users input and select the data they want to monitor in the monitoring profile when the dark Web report feature is enabled. The tool will alert the user if any matching data is found on the dark Web and offer instructions on how to secure that data. For instance, Google says that if it finds someone’s Social Security number on the dark Web, it might counsel them to report it as stolen to the police or take precautions to safeguard their credit information.
The dark Web report will display additional relevant information that may be discovered in security breaches and data leaks in addition to results matching the personal information users have on the monitoring profile. Users can delete or stop tracking at any time, and the information in their monitoring profiles is handled in accordance with Google’s privacy policies. Over the coming weeks, members of all Google One plans in the US will have access to the report on the dark web.
Additionally, starting today and rolling out over several upcoming weeks, Google is extending VPN access to all Google One members, including the Basic plan, which costs $1.99/month (roughly Rs. 160), across Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac systems in 22 countries. If they are a part of the main Google One plan, the members may also share the VPN with up to five additional Google One customers.
Virtual private networks, or VPNs, add an additional layer of security by encrypting user internet activity and shielding it from network administrators and hackers (which may include the internet service provider, carrier, or public Wi-Fi provider). Additionally, it conceals users’ IP addresses from websites and applications so that their whereabouts cannot be ascertained or tracked over time.
