Asus ROG Phone 5 Will Have Up To 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM

Having a good RAM capacity on your smartphone is good, but at what point would you say it is enough? Well, if you are Asus and making a gaming smartphone, the answer would be “as much as technically and humanly possible.” That is the approach Asus seems to be taking as the Asus ROG Phone 5 will have up to 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 will have up to 18GB of LPDDR 5 RAM. The 18GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM module is from SK Hynix, a semiconductor-based out of Seoul, South Korea.

In a statement, SK Hynix said that the new RAM module operates at a maximum of 6,400Mbps. That is around 20% faster compared to other LPDDR5 DRAMs in the market. They have also said that they have begun the mass production of the chips. The first batch f the chips will be present in the Asus ROG Phone 5.

So we know that the new ROG Phone 5 will have quite a lot of memory. SK Hynix also added that the chip is designed for “premium smartphones to support an optimal environment for games with a high-resolution image and also high-quality videos.” So we can expect a good overall performance from the phone.

The recent leaks and reports suggest the Asus ROG Phone 5 will have a Snapdragon 888, a high-refresh OLED display, and 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The smartphone is expected to have a back design with in-built dot-matrix technology. It will also have shoulder trigger buttons.

Apart from that, it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and 65W fast charging support. The device will likely run on Android 11 with some gaming enhancements by Asus.  

The ROG Phone 5 is scheduled to launch on March 10. The whole ROG smartphones series by Asus has been excellent, and people have loved it. It will be interesting to see how well the new ROG Phone 5 will perform.
