This fascinating news is coming from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He shared a research note with MacRumors. In the research note, he predicts that Apple will launch augmented reality “contact lenses” in the 2030s.

Kuo believes that the augmented reality lenses will bring electronics from “visible computing” to “invisible computing.”

Kuo said that the lenses are “unlikely to have independent computing power and storage.” He also suggested that the lenses might be required to connect to an iPhone or other devices for connection. However, he did not go into further details.

Kuo also said that as of now, there is “no visibility” of this product in the near future. As a result, this might be more of a speculation than an actual real product.

The augmented reality could change the AR experience. As of now, people need to wear headphones or glasses to get AR, but with contact lenses, this could change drastically.

AR gives digital information over a real-world view. For example, if you are in a mall, you can easily watch every store’s opening hours using AR.

For a more immediate future, Kuo says that Apple will release its long-rumored mixed reality headset “in mid-2022”. This will be followed by the launch of augmented reality glasses in 2025.

With more and more AR products coming and getting better, what do you think about the future of AR and how we interact with the world would be? Do let us know in the comments.
